Find out more about Climate Change in our District

The climate is changing. It's incredibly complex and at times overwhelming. It's already affecting our weather, health and wellbeing, natural environment, taonga species, mahinga kai, food production, biosecurity, infrastructure, and the economy.

We can't solve it with just one solution, but lots of small actions make a difference.

What's happening now?

Earlier this week (Monday 20 November) at the Environment Energy and Resilience Committee Councillors approved the strategic framework and actions to feed into the draft Climate Change Strategy which will go out for public consultation alongside the 2024-34 Long Term Plan in March/April next year.

The framework and actions are the result of a collaborative approach with Council, stakeholders, partners, and communities who feed in to the engagement we held earlier this year. By working together we've been able to craft a road map for the district addressing the challenges posed by climate change.
