Whakatāne District’s inaugural Arts, Culture and Creativity Strategy
Te Rautaki Toi, Ahurea me Auahatanga 2023-2033 vision is:

“Arts, culture and creativity sparking connections in every corner of our District”

“E tuitui hononga ana te toi, te ahurea me te auaha
ki ngā pito katoa o tō tātau Rohe”

The strategy is a commitment to the celebration of arts, culture, our creatives, and the people who support the arts across the Whakatāne District. Developed with input and insights from our creative communities, the Arts, Culture, and Creativity Strategy aims to respond to the district’s growing arts and culture sector.

A priority in the strategy is to investigate the development of an Arts, Culture and Creative Hub, to enable practicing and emerging artists to connect, create, and develop. We’re undertaking a feasibility study to progress this and explore what places, spaces and resources are required. We’re need your help to better understand the needs, expectations, and aspirations of our creative communities, artists, ringa toi and toi Māori.

We invite your input via this short survey which will inform our thinking.

The survey can be completed online or on paper. Paper survey forms can be dropped off at any Whakatāne District Council facility during normal opening hours up to 5pm on 10 May 2024.

The survey closes at 5pm on Friday, 10 May 2024.
